Ο Επιμελητηριακός Όμιλος Ανάπτυξης Ελληνικών Νησιών -τα Νησιωτικά Επιμελητήρια της χώρας μας- διοργανώνονουν ένα επιστημονικό συνέδριο για την ανάδειξη της συμβολής της νησιωτικής οικονομίας, του νησιωτικού επιχειρείν στην οικονομία, την κοινωνία και την εικόνα της νεότερης Ελλάδας, από το 1821 έως και σήμερα, αλλά και τη δυναμική των νησιών της χώρας, των προκλήσεων και των δυνατοτήτων του μέλλοντος, καθώς και της σταθερής συμβολής τους στην εθνική οικονομία, την ανάπτυξη, την πρόοδο και την εικόνα της χώρας μας.

Τα ταφικά μνημεία, δείγματα του ένδοξου παρελθόντος και της οικονομικής ευρωστίας της Σύρου, είναι αριστουργήματα. Βρίσκονται στο χώρο του ΙΝ Αγίου Γεωργίου και καθιστούν την περιοχή ένα υπαίθριο μουσείο.

Α commemorative book that will immortalize the Bicentennial of the Independence of Greece in Brazil (1821-2021). It will be written by Greek and Brazilian intellectuals and artists who cooperate on the cultural exchange between the two countries. Although Brazil has a long intellectual tradition related to the culture and history of Ancient Greece, we still lack studies dealing with the history, general culture and language of Modern Greece. The book will fill this gap by presenting, in a pedagogical way and anchored in the insightful analysis of scholars from both countries, an overview of the historical and cultural landmarks that drew the nation’s past and lay the foundations for building a future of achievements and challenges.

On Saturday, October 2, 2021, the UCLA Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for the Study of Hellenic Culture, in collaboration with Dumbarton Oaks, will virtually host professor Nikos Panou, Stony Brook University, for a public lecture “Slaying the Dragon: Byzantine Survivals in the Greek War of Independence.” The event will additionally feature remarks from H.E. Alexandra Papadopoulou, Ambassador of Greece to the US and the director of Dumbarton Oaks, Tom Cummins.
