Facing Freedom! In the Greek Parliament, two centuries later

Through modern museological and museographic approaches, the exhibition narrative utilizes the cultural stock of the Parliament, focusing on two unique historical ensembles, image and speech, respectively: on the one hand, the Frieze of the Revolution and the Medals of the Heroes, that is, the wall that Hall of Trophies and Supporters, with 20 representations of war and political-diplomatic events from 1821 (declaration of the Struggle) to 1833 (arrival of Otto), and with 14 portraits of heroes, painted around 1842-43; on the other hand, the Archives of Hellenic Polygenesis, emblematic archival collection of the Library of Parliament, consisting of thirty-eight codes and ten thousand loose documents of the period 1821-1832. The exhibition takes place in the two most monumental areas of the Palace of Parliament, in the Peristyle of the Plenary Session and in the "Eleftherios Venizelos" Hall, former Hall of Trophies and Supporters. The in situ Exhibition in the natural space, with a total of 401 exhibits will be also accessible and online, through a special website, with all the exhibits available, with a 3D virtual tour (456D tour), as well as digital applications-games. The Exhibition is accompanied by a scientific catalog of 456 pages, fully illustrated and documented, as well as a smaller guide. The above editions will be released independently in Greek and English. Through these different "tools" and versions, the Exhibition is addressed to multiple audiences aspiring to be a unique presentation of the Greek Revolution, accessible to all in Greece and abroad.

For the fifth digital webinar commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Greek War of Independence, Youth President Miltiadis Paikopoulos will introduce Guest Speaker Gregory Kontos, founder of GreekAncestry.net and a leader in the field of Greek genealogy. Gregory has completed a Bachelor of Arts (History) at the University of Athens and Masters in Research (History) from Leiden University. He will focus on the involvement of female heroines in the Greek War of Independence and the potential genealogical information for descendants.

καθηγήτριας του πανεπιστημίου της Γενεύης, παρουσιάζει την πορεία
του Καποδίστρια από την καθοριστική συμβολή του στο Σύνταγμα της
Ελβετίας, ως την εκλογή του ως Κυβερνήτη του Ελληνικού Κράτους
και τη δολοφονία του. Οι σκηνές διαδραματίζονται σε ευρωπαικές
πόλεις του 19ου αιώνα με συμμετοχή ιστορικών προσωπικοτήτων,
όπως ο Τσάρος Αλέξανδρος Α΄, ο Μέττερνιχ, η Ρωξάνδρα Στούρτζα, ο
Ευνάρδος, πιστός φίλος, Ελβετός φιλέλληνας και ευεργέτης της
Ελλάδος και οι Έλληνες ήρωες Αλ. Υψηλάντης, Θ. Κολοκτρώνης και
Πετρόμπεης Μαυρομιχάλης.
