"The versatile composer Thanos Mikroutsikos dies at the age of 72. His work includes various music genres, including operas, symphonic music, chamber music, music for theatre and cinema, experimental music. Simultaneously, a big part of his work deals with composing music for "entechno" songs that used lyrics by Greek and foreign poets. Hailing from Patras and raised in a musical environment, he began his musical studies at a young age. His first formal appearance in discography was in 1975 with the album Political Songs, with poetry by Nazim Hikmet and Wolf Biermann. He persisted on his composing journey, blending together Giannis Ritsos, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Manos Eleftheriou, Bertolt Brecht, Nikos Kavvadias, Konstantinos Cavafis, etc. A large part of his work is dedicated to music for the theater, while the remainder includes atonic and electronic music fragments with an adequate dosage of experimentation.
