The Championship goes to the Thessalian plain

It's May Day. AEL (Athletic Club of Larissa), coached by Jacek Gmoh (he is dismissed that same night because he agreed to join Olympiacos in the next season), defeats Iraklis 1-0 in "Alcazar" with a goal by Giorgos Mitsibonas. Mihail saves (4/4 of the year) his team from a penalty by Sakis Anastasiadis. And AEL (with 22 out of its 25 players being local residents) is declared Champion during the penultimate game of the season. AEL remains the only team outside of Athens, Piraeus, or Thessaloniki to win this title.
