Women's water polo on top of Europe

Vouliagmeni Nautical Club's women's water polo team defeats Orizzonte Catania 12-9 in the final of the LEN European Cup in Kirishi, Russia, and is crowned, for the first time in their history, European Champion. The Greek women (Liosi 3, Kouteli 3, Tsoukala 2, Melidoni 2, Asimaki 2) with Alexia Kammenos as their coach get a rematch of their defeat (14-13) in the previous year’s final from the Italian women in Catania.  They bring the Cup to Greece after six years. And in 2010, Vouliagmeni makes history. They win for the second year in a row in the Water Polo Champions Cup and European Super Cup. Vouliagmeni becomes the first Greek team to participate in European Championships Finals for three consecutive years and wins the title twice in a row.
