Elias Iliadis, an Olympic gold medalist in the Athens Olympics, becomes, at age 24, the first Greek Judoka to win a gold medal at the men's world championships. In the -90 kg division, he defeats 19-year-old Japanese Daiki Nishiyama at the World Judo Championship in Tokyo, Japan. He is the best Judoka of all time, with 13 medals (8 gold, two silver, three bronze), cumulatively in Olympic Games, World Cups, European Championships, and Mediterranean Games.
