Instigators are Charles Pierre de Frédy, Baron de Coubertin and the writer from Syros, Dimitrios Vikelas, who becomes its president. The first essential decision taken at its International Congress, is the revival of the Olympic Games in 1896. Dimitrios Vikelas was a representative of the Pan-Hellenic Gymnastic Club (who had been invited as a guest of honor by Pierre de Fredy, Baron de Coubertin) to the founding meeting of the IOC.
