Otto Simitsek becomes head coach of the Greek national track and field team

From the Royal Academy of Budapest to Athens, Otto Simitsek assumes the position of head coach of the Greek national track and field team (he served until 1969), at the invitation of Ioannis Ketseas, president of SEGAS and member of the IOC. Otto Simitsek was a graduate of the Royal Academy of Physical Education in Budapest, with postgraduate studies at the University of Berlin, where he specialized in Athletics. An admirer of Greece, Otto Simitsek was the absolute reformer of Greek Sports. He was the "captain" at both the Summer and Winter Olympics. A pioneer of Greek skiing. From 1962 to 1990, he served as the dean of IOC. He was a coach both at Olympiacos and Panathinaikos and president of the International Association of Athletic Coaches. Otto Simitsek was honored with the badges of the Order of George I and the Order of the Phoenix.
