The "dawning" of PAO (Panathinaikos Athletic Club)

Giorgos Kalafatis and 40 members leave Panhellinios because the football department was eliminated as incompatible with athletics. They create the Athens Football Club (POA), in the residence (in the neighborhood of Pedion tou Areos) of the leader of the endeavor, Giorgos Kalafatis, at the time in his 20s. They want their team to "speak to the heart of every Athenian and every Atthida". POA was renamed – on 31/07/1922 – as Panathinaikos Athletic Club (PAO), with the clover as its emblem, which expresses balance, unity, and good luck.
