Konstantinos Tsiklitiras from Pylos, Messinia, wins the gold medal (since then, only in 1992 Greece wins gold medal again) in the standing long jump at the Stockholm Olympics, with a performance of 3m.37. Second is the American Platt Adams with 3m.36, and third is his brother, Benjamin Adams, with 3m.28. At the same time, Tsiklitiras also wins the silver medal in standing high jump (1m.55). It was the 2nd consecutive medal for Konstantinos Tsiklitiras, having already won the silver medal in the standing long jump with 3m.235 at the London Olympic Games in 1908. He is a goalkeeper for POA (later PAO). He enlists as a volunteer in the 11th Company of the 1st Infantry Regiment in the Balkan Wars. It is recorded that he rejected the offer to remain at the Athens Garrison Headquarters. He died at 24 of meningitis.
