The founding assembly of AEK is held by Greek refugees from Constantinople at 24 Verantzerou Street, in the mezzanine floor of the sportswear store of Ionas & Dimopoulos, headed by Aimilios and Menelaos Ionas. They elect Konstantinos Spanoudis as President, a journalist and future MP, and Costas Dimopoulos as General Secretary. The emblem is the Byzantine Two-Headed Eagle, and Club colors are gold (yellow) and black. The Club acquires the stadium in Nea Philadelphia in 1929. Its official opening is held on November 2, 1930, with a friendly match with Olympiacos (2-2).
