Simeon Mavroskoufis – with family roots in Asia Minor – is chosen (nine years after his death) as the first Greek national to be included in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He is one of the representatives from the eight countries that signed the founding declaration of FIBA in May 1932 in Geneva. He was a founding member of the Federation of Referees of Greece (ODR) and one of the first international referees.
