Olympiacos becomes European and World Champion

Olympiacos triumphs 100-88 against Real in London. Giorgos Bartzokas (first Greek coach to become Champion) is the coach, and the players are Hines 12, Law 20 (1), Antic 10 (1), Spanoulis 22 (5), Perperoglou 10 (2), Shermadini 3, Sloukas 11, Powell 2, Printezis 5, Papanikolaou 5, Katsivelis. Thus, Olympiacos becomes a member of the league of teams with consecutive Championships (Yugoplastika, Maccabi Tel Aviv). Vassilis Spanoulis was named MVP of the Final Four for the third time in his career, matching Tony Kukoc's record!

In the same year, Olympiacos also win the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. They defeat the Brazilian Pinheiros 86-69 for the second time in 48 hours, in Barueri, northwest of Sao Paulo. In the first final match, the Greek team had won 81-70.
